Why Kids’ Room Should Be Colorful?

Raising a kid in the 21st century is a mammoth task. As a parent, you’ve to consider many things, be it emotional, physical, or mental needs. You’ve to find a portion where all these things are correlated and find the best fit for your toddler.

There’s a belief that children are born creative and curious, and why shouldn’t they? I mean it’s a new world for them with so many new things they’ve seen every other day. Creativity increases internally and externally in a child and the internal factors are somewhat dependent on the external ones.

A toddler spends most of his time in his home or at least his room and for him to be more creative and curious about the world he seeks to known about, we need his room to be bright, colorful, and should give him a fresh vibe whenever he enters his room. Imagination won’t wander around plain white walls and ceilings. Children’s have no knowledge of this world they’ve entered into and during their early age they see the world as we show them, it’s like we’re the eyes to them, showing them bright, vibrant colors will create a better picture of the world around them than the former. As children age, they continue to be drawn to brighter colors. Colour has also been known to affect their moods and behavior.

Why colors appeal to children?

Well, now we have known that simple plain colors won’t induce imagination in your child, so the question is what colors will do that job? Children are attracted to brighter block colors of the color wheel rather than pastels or muted blends. Primary colors red, yellow and blue, and the secondary colors green, orange and purple, are more appealing than light shades of pink and beige or neutral shades of grey and brown. For this reason, the industries whose primary consumers are kids, use bright colors to market children’s products. Examples of these industries can be the toy industry, child food, etc. Children always prefer brighter colors from an early age because their eyes are not fully developed yet. They perceive these colors better than fainter shades.

Bright colors and contrasting colors stand out more in their field of vision. Doctors understand that color affects emotions, and can have a significant effect on developing children. Warmer colors like orange and yellow bring happiness and comfort. Red has been known to increase the heart rate and therefore increase alertness and appetite, while cooler colors like blue and green tend to have a calming effect. Teachers and parents may consider the ways in which color affects children’s moods when they design their classrooms or bedrooms. Children tend to associate colors with objects, like red for apples, yellow for sun/ bananas, green for leaves, brown for tree barks, etc. Bright colors are always linked with deeper associations. For example, red is often connected with passion, green with nature, and blue with sadness.
